Wrapped is an ongoing project from the people whom i've met (teacher, farmer, OFW, artist etc) and from those meetings, dialogs and exchanges I asked them to wear a mask that I made, covering and preserving their identities and memories and sharing them to people
My work deals with familiar objects and everyday experiences. I work across different media from installations, photography, drawings, designs, graffiti, interventions, to interactive and participatory projects building drama to question memory, nostalgia, existence and space, making a new perspective between the viewer and the work. With this notion I want to produce new thoughts and emotions of anger, comedy, fear, abstraction and vision.
I was trained as an advertising practitioner but did not pursue a career in advertising rather I incorporate some theories and ideas of advertising that deals with people, mass produced objects, consumerism and combining them with my personal ideas. Ideas that makes a strong impression and emotional tension, establishing an intimate and charged dialogue with the audience – will they be familiarized by it or be alienated?
